We are excited to welcome two presenters this month:
Trinity Pierce, Certified Arborist
Trinity Pierce, Senior Stewardship Manager at The Morton Arboretum, will join us to discuss the Chicago Region Trees Initiative (CRTI). As a Certified Arborist who serves on the National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council, Trinity brings expert insight into the largest urban forestry partnership in the country. She will detail how the CRTI works to improve the health, diversity, and equitable distribution of our tree canopy through the 2050 Master Plan for Trees, using data-driven community action to benefit neighborhoods throughout Illinois.
Rob Showalter, Technology Education Woodworking Teacher
Rob Showalter of Geneva High School will present "Not Your Father’s Woodworking Class," sharing how he transformed a traditional "shop" elective into a modern program encouraging students to design and build their own custom furniture. By modernizing the technology used in the Technology Education department, replacing outdated projects, and introducing CNC machining and entrepreneurial skills, Rob’s streamlined approach equips students with professional-grade expertise for a future in engineering and design while carrying on the craft of woodworking.
